The power supply on the 34040 ton vessel MV Transshelf originally consisted of 2 shaft generators and 2 diesel auxiliary generators. During this project a third diesel generator was added by Controlin. ComAp generator controllers were installed as part of a total of 5 generators.
In addition, the main distribution system had a complete update for redundant power supply. For the new diesel auxiliary generator, Controlin installed a completely new subdivider so that this generator can function as power supply and can serve as a power supply for the cargo.
All 6 torque switches are equipped with BTB (Bus-Tie-Breaker) controllers from ComAp. These controllers allow the generators to operate in so-called separate groups and synchronize them with each other as groups. Controlin installed a total of 11 ComAp controllers on the MV Transshelf. Now the entire system has active intercommunication for deadbus-close management, load sharing and active synchronization. The PMS was designed with a semi-automatic philosophy, leaving the choice of generators to the operator. In case of calamities and undesirable situations, the PMS will intervene immediately.
